Brands are more important today than they have ever been, not only because they establish a presence in the marketplace, but they also simplify consumer decision-making

The Future Farmers Project

2012/01/24

Towards the end of last year I met a very inspiring woman named Judy Stuart. She described herself as a simple farmer from Underberg and asked whether she could stop by my office to tell me about a project that she is involved in called "The Future Farmers Project".

COMPANIES ACT 71 OF 2008 AND CC REGISTRATIONS

SACCI has been advised by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) that the registration of Close Corporations ceased on the 22 December 2011. No new close corporations will be registered after this date and all services, both manual and electronic relating to the registration of new close corporations will be discontinued as of this date. This is to be done in terms of the Companies Act No 71 of 2008 which provides for the phasing out of the registration of close corporations.

Existing close corporations will continue to be administered under the Close Corporations Act No 69 of 1984, and such close corporations are free to retain this status indefinitely. However, should members decide to convert their CC into a company this may be done free of charge until 20 April 2014.

SACCI COMMENTS ON LABOUR BILLS
To read the SACCI comments on the Labour Bills that were published in December 2010 click here. The Bills are:
• Employment Services Bill (A new proposed law)
• Employment Equity Amendment Bill
• Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill
• Labour Relations Amendment Bill.

SA1st CAMPAIGN

The objective of the SA1st campaign is to encourage South Africans to emulate the work ethic, patriotism and dedication that underpin the success of economies such as Japan, India and China. These values are not strange to South Africans as they also drove the growth of the South African economy but, in recent times, we seem to have lost our national focus. As a consequence, we currently suffer low levels of economic performance and declining levels of global competitiveness.

SA1stLogo.jpg

SA1st is not a marketing campaign, but a driver for behavioural change, national focus and improved productivity and competitiveness. It is a call on both employers and employees to be more constructive in their labour relations and to work jointly towards optimising their drive toward greater productivity. This will have the consequence of enterprise growth which in turn will lead to employment growth, greater economic activity and greater levels of national competitiveness.
