METRO STATUS

The Chamber has made a submission to the Municipal Demarcation Board on the question of the Board’s review of the metropolitan status of the Msunduzi Metro. The Board’s previous errors of judgement are highlighted and a warning that the expansion of the boundaries to include the whole of the Umgungundlovu District Municipality would simply compound the errors already made. The Chamber calls for the Board to fulfil its mandate properly and designate the metro in terms of the definition of a category A municipality as set out in the Municipal Structures Act.
