Ghela Dayaram and Sons is one of the oldest businesses in Pietermaritzburg, having celebrated its ninetieth anniversary in 2001. Notwithstanding developments in the retail clothing sector over the decades, the company can still call itself ‘specialist outfitter and tailor’.

Madan Ghela is the Managing Partner of this family business and his special service ethic is critical in its ongoing success. In addition to the ‘old’ store on the corner of Retief and Longmarket Streets, the company has a very successful branch in the Liberty Midlands Mall.  

For over thirty years, the company has supported the chamber in Pietermaritzburg and it is entirely fitting that Madan Ghela should be a Director of the PCB. He brings to the table a wealth of retail and business experience, as well as practised insights into marketing and customer care. He is also the Treasurer of the local branch of the South African Institute of International Affairs, joint Secretary of the Gandhi Memorial Committee and Vice Chair of the Gujarati Vedic Society.
