Zinhle Sokhela
Zinhle Sokhela is an inspirational entrepreneur who has worked both hard and very smartly to overcome the disadvantages of her youth.
She is the Chairperson of ACTISAT Investments (Pty) Ltd, Azi-Moyo Holdings Mfundo-Thuto Investments (Pty) Ltd. She is the founder and Managing Director of Sesifikile Booksellers (founded in 1998), a supplier of educational and academic material to government educational institutions throughout the country. She also runs several BP Franchises in KwaZulu-Natal and been involved in the Petroleum Industry for the past 17 years.
She serves on the Management Board of Business Fighting Crime. A member of the Council of the Umgungundlovu FET College, Zinhle Sokhela serves on its Executive and Audit Committees. She is also a Trustee of the Dambuza Community Trust. Recently, she has been appointed to serve on the Council of the University of KwaZulu-Natal will also serve on its Risk and Audit Committee.
As the President of the PCB for two terms (2007 – 2009), she was a member of the SACCI Council and led a provincial business delegation to India to participate as a speaker in the 100th anniversary of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, with which body she signed an MOU on behalf of the PCB. She also participated in a Gijima-funded study tour to Brazil in 2008.
Zinhle Sokhela was awarded the Mayoral Award in 2003 in recognition for her outstanding leadership, performance and contribution in economic development. In 2006 she was awarded the HUC Award, in recognition again for her outstanding leadership and community involvement. Zinhle’s involvement in the Love to Live Campaign, an initiative that promotes the awareness of drug and alcohol abuse, HIV/AIDS has inspired many to change their lives and live a better lives.
Zinhle Sokhela has long been a supporter of the Chamber in Pietermaritzburg. With the particular support of her husband and sons, her businesses are making excellent progress and her commitment to them is bound to bring even greater success in the future.
Her business acumen is attributable to her inherent skills and her determination to master the various aspects of business management through education and training. She has completed a Masters in Business Administration.
