Alison Engelbrecht (Ali as she prefers to be known) is the founder of the well-established and renowned Women In Business organisation. Ali encourages entrepreneurially minded women to believe in themselves and to build their self-confidence. Ali was nominated and won the social sector award for South Africa’s Most Influential Women In Business & Government and received the Pioneering Woman Entrepreneur Award in 2014.
Ali has presented at many conferences around the country pursing her passion to support women in their entrepreneurial endeavours. Ali practised in the KZN Midlands as a Business Service provider – servicing the varied entrepreneurs from farming through to retail and hospitality for ten years.
Education has and still is the driving force behind the endeavours to mentor, mould, encourage, and drive the next generation of leaders, managers, employers and employees. Ali has practised as an educator for 30+ years, currently holding the position of Vice Principal Academic (Varsity College Pietermaritzburg Campus).
Ali is a born and bred KZN Midlands woman, who grew up on a farm in Howick. She completed her Teaching qualification through UKZN (Howard College) and her Honours in Education through UNISA. Ali continues to study believing in lifelong learning.
Ali is a member of SAIT (South African Institute of Tax Practitioners) and is also a member of SACE (The South African Council for Educators).
Ali loves to “road trip” either in her beloved Lady Mavis (Land Rover) or by foot completing and competing in long distance events. Be different to make a difference is Ali’s mantra.
